Abstract Submissions

We invite you to submit abstracts for the EPHEA Conference, focusing on ‘Equity is our Compass: holding course for inclusive education’. It’s happening at Waipapa Taumata Rau | The University of Auckland from 19 to 22 November 2024.

 

We are open to researchers, educators, and advocates. Share your work on equity, inclusion, and diversity in higher education.

  • Indigenous knowledge: integrating indigenous systems into curriculum, teaching and supporting indigenous students and staff within higher education institutions.
  • Culturally responsive practices: in teaching, student and staff engagement practices that centre Māori and Pacific perspectives
  • Community engagement: initiatives aimed at fostering inclusive practices within higher education. Research exploring the impact of community partnerships on student success and retention rates.
  • Gender equity and diversity Initiatives: gender equity programs and initiatives creating safe and inclusive environments for rainbow, transgender and non-binary students and staff.
  • Anti-racism Initiatives: addressing systemic racism and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in curriculum, hiring practices and campus culture.
  • Accessibility and Inclusive Environments: research and good practices for creating accessible learning environments for students with disabilities, inclusive hiring practices and workplace accommodations for staff with disabilities.

Presentations focused on the student lifecycle and staff and workplace development in higher education will be prioritised.

Submission Guidelines:

Abstracts should briefly describe your presentation, including the purpose and intent, how your topic relates to the conference theme, and the suggested audience.

Presenters may elect to deliver in the following formats:

  • Showcase presentation (30 mins)
  • ‘Lightning talk’: digital poster presentation (5 minutes)

Format for submission

  • Abstracts should be no more than 500 words.
  • Submissions must align with the conference theme and one of the specified areas of expertise.
  • The abstract form should be emailed as a PDF file to ephea2024@auckland.ac.nz by 31 May 2024
  • Authors will be notified of acceptance from 15 July 2024.
